About Program
Program Overview
Master of Industrial Relations (MIR) Program
The Master of Industrial Relations (MIR) program is designed to support students as they prepare for impactful careers in human resources and labour relations.
MIR Mentorship Program
The MIR Mentorship Program connects current students with graduates of the Master of Industrial Relations (MIR) program who are now professionals in the field.
What the Program Offers
- Personalized Guidance: Alumni mentors share real-world insights and career advice based on their own experiences in the evolving world of work.
- Professional Development: Students gain exposure to different career paths, workplace cultures, and industry expectations.
- Lasting Connections: Mentorship groups are designed to remain consistent throughout the program, fostering long-term relationships and a strong sense of community.
How It Works
- Each Fall, incoming MIR Students are matched with a team of MIR Alumni to form small mentorship groups. The group approach in the mentorship program allows for more diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Groups meet virtually once per month (October - May) to discuss various topics and ask questions related to their career and professional development related to Employment Relations
- Students are encouraged to take an active role in the mentoring relationship, driving conversations and engaging in planned activities.
Why It Matters
The MIR Alumni Mentorship Program is more than just networking—it's about building a supportive environment where students can grow, ask questions, and gain confidence as they transition from the classroom to the workplace.
Employment Relations Studies
The program is part of the Employment Relations Studies, which provides students with a comprehensive understanding of employment relations and human resources.
