Accelerated MA in Psychology with a Concentration in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience
The accelerated master's degree with a concentration in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience is designed for highly motivated Mason undergraduates who have demonstrated a strong interest in the biological bases of cognition and behavior. Evidence of this interest is best illustrated by students having sought out research experience in the labs of Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience (CBN) Program faculty, as well as having enrolled in courses that explore the biological basis of behavior.
Program Overview
- The accelerated MA in psychology is available only to students pursuing the MA in psychology with a concentration in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience.
- Students must have completed no fewer than 60 credits at the time of application.
- The degree is open to any major, provided that the appropriate prerequisite courses have been taken.
- This is a joint undergraduate/graduate degree program.
Program Benefits
- A streamlined application process with no application fee.
- The opportunity to apply 12 graduate credits to their undergraduate degrees.
- Students have the opportunity to take an additional 6 graduate credits to be held for reserve graduate credit (apply only to the graduate degree).
- They can start their graduate degrees with up to 18 credits earned while undergraduates.
Degree Completion
Students admitted to an accelerated master's degree program have the opportunity to complete both degrees in a reduced amount of time, and at a reduced cost. If accepted, students will be able to earn a BA or BS in their chosen major and an MA in psychology with a concentration in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience after satisfactory completion of 138 credits.
