Program Overview
Program Overview
The Smart Learning Design course is a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) offered by the Politecnico di Milano. The course aims to provide teachers, educators, and decision-makers with the tools and methodologies necessary to effectively integrate digital resources and technologies into their teaching practices.
Course Description
The course focuses on the Smart Learning Design 25 model, which allows for the deconstruction of the learning process into its constituent elements (learning events) and their subsequent reconnection in a systemic way. This approach enables the design of effective and engaging educational interactions aimed at achieving lasting learning outcomes.
Course Objectives
By actively participating in this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize the main motivations and directions of evolution in the current educational context and the key components of an innovation process in a hybrid context
- Describe and apply the SLD25 method to design learning-teaching interventions that effectively integrate all variables of the hybrid context
- Critically evaluate online or face-to-face context options to design learning events and their relationships in detail
Course Structure
The course is divided into three weeks:
Week 0 - Introduction to the Course
Introduction to the course and its objectives.
Week 1 - Smart Learning Design 25
Reflection on the need for educational innovation processes that optimize balances between the classroom and digital environments, and illustration of the main characteristics of the Smart Learning Design 25.
Week 2 - Learning Events
Exploration of the "learning events" that are the basis of the Smart Learning Design 25 method, understanding how students can act within these events and how teachers can best support this process.
Week 3 - Designing Smart Learning
Reflection on the choice between "online" and "face-to-face" and description of three possible didactic sets that integrate all variables of the hybrid context into a coherent but flexible project for teachers and students.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for participating in the course.
Activities
In addition to accessing course content, including videos and other online resources, students will be proposed various types of activities that will enrich their experience, such as anticipatory and reflective activities on the proposed content, non-evaluated quizzes, and discussions in the forum.
Evaluation
To successfully complete the course, students must achieve at least 60% of the obtainable score in each evaluated quiz. The final course grade is based on the score obtained by responding to the evaluated quizzes at the end of each week.
Certificate
The course provides an Open Badge upon correctly responding to at least 60% of the questions in each evaluated quiz and completing the final questionnaire. The Open Badge is not an official certificate and does not grant university credits, grades, or diplomas.
