Program Overview
Introduction to the UNITECH Program
The UNITECH program is an international mobility program designed for engineering students interested in deepening their technical-scientific knowledge and developing managerial skills in an international context. The program combines a period of study abroad with an internship in a multinational company.
Eligibility and Application
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be enrolled in the third year of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Have a minimum weighted average grade of 25/30, calculated over their entire academic career, by December 31, 2025
- Not participate in other programs, such as Alta Scuola Politecnica or IDEA League Challenge Programme
The application process involves two separate submissions:
- An online application through the "Mobilitŕ Internazionale per Studio" service, indicating UNITECH as the first preference
- An online application through the UNITECH platform, including:
- Answers to motivational questions (essay) in English
- A study plan for each of the three potential host universities (three separate plans)
- Transcript of records in English (PDF)
- CV in English, including a certificate of English language proficiency (PDF)
Selection Process
The selection process consists of two phases:
- Pre-selection: Candidates are evaluated based on their application documents, academic results, motivations, CV, and language skills. Up to 18 candidates are admitted to the Assessment Centre.
- Assessment Centre: Candidates participate in a discussion, presentation, and individual interview, all conducted in English. The Assessment Centre is a crucial phase of the selection process, and participation is mandatory.
Program Structure
The UNITECH program lasts approximately one academic year and includes:
- A period of study at a partner university (which can take place in the first or second semester)
- An internship with a UNITECH corporate partner (minimum 4 months, 6 months recommended)
- Three joint modules (Startup Week, Mid-Term Week, and End-of-Year Week)
Joint Modules
The joint modules are an integral part of the UNITECH program:
- Startup Week: Reflection on teamwork, goal achievement, and interaction management
- Mid-Term Week: Teamwork on a business case, problem-solving, and presentation
- End-of-Year Week: Peer coaching, preparation for professional life, and job interviews
Internship
The internship provides practical experience and reflection on leadership and personal impact in a corporate environment.
Academic Partners
The UNITECH program collaborates with several academic partners, offering a range of study opportunities.
Corporate Partners
The program's corporate partners provide internships and contribute to the development of the UNITECH program.
Financial Support
Students admitted to the UNITECH program pay tuition fees to the Politecnico di Milano, not to the host university. They also receive a contribution for the semester of mobility, as specified in the call for international mobility for study. Additionally, students receive a scholarship of 1,000 from UNITECH International to cover travel expenses related to the joint modules.
Alumni Association
Upon completing the program, students can register with the Unitech Alumni Association (UAA), a network of young engineering professionals who have participated in the UNITECH program.
Conclusion
The UNITECH program offers a unique opportunity for engineering students to develop their technical, managerial, and language skills in an international context. With its strong academic and corporate partnerships, the program provides a comprehensive and enriching experience for students seeking to enhance their career prospects in the global engineering industry.
