Program Overview
Introduction to the Medes Program
The Medes program is a collaborative effort between several European universities, including the Politecnico di Milano, aimed at providing a multidisciplinary education to outstanding students in the field of design. The program seeks to establish processes and methods for selecting and training motivated and excellent students in design, preparing them for professional and research careers in international contexts.
Partner Universities
The Medes program involves the following partner universities:
- Aalto University, School of Art, Design and Architecture, Helsinki (Finland)
- K闤n International School of Design - KISD, Colonia (Germany)
- The Glasgow School of Art, GSA Glasgow (Scotland)
- Konstfack University College of Arts, Stockholm (Sweden)
- ENSCI, Les Ateliers, Paris (France)
- Universidad de Aveiro, Aveiro (Portugal)
Program Structure
Students selected for the Medes program spend four semesters studying at two of the partner universities. This international study experience provides students with a broader understanding of design practices, methods, and opportunities in different contexts. The program is designed to intervene at the level of master's degrees, specifically in the third and fourth years of a five-year undergraduate and graduate study program.
Methodologies and Recognition
The methodologies used in the Medes program involve students entering the study programs of the partner universities at different levels, depending on the specific content and methods of each university's offer. The recognition of study periods abroad is managed according to the Erasmus program for the first year and through a joint evaluation process for the second year, ensuring that the study periods are recognized by the home university.
Diploma and Certification
Upon completion of the Medes program, students receive a diploma supplement in addition to their master's degree from the Politecnico di Milano. This supplement certifies the international and multidisciplinary nature of their education, enhancing their professional and academic profiles.
Objectives and Outcomes
The primary objective of the Medes program is to form profiles of graduates in design who possess the necessary intellectual, cultural, and technical competencies to operate professionally in European and international design environments. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing them for careers in design and related fields.
Conclusion
The Medes program offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in a multidisciplinary and international design education, enhancing their career prospects and personal growth. By collaborating with renowned European universities, the program ensures that graduates are well-equipped to face the challenges of the global design industry.
