PhD in Social Policy
Brief Presentation
This doctorate aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge of Social Policy as a multidisciplinary domain of social sciences. Graduates acquire in-depth perspectives on contemporary debates in this field, being able to develop relevant scientific research, as well as to apply the knowledge produced in contexts of design and implementation of social programs and policies.
Objectives
- Develop advanced knowledge in Social Policy, with highly demanding and rigorous criteria, which contributes to the academic advancement of the discipline and a better understanding of social problems, which supports effective interventions towards more sustainable, fair and inclusive societies;
- Provide advanced instrumental skills in the field of scientific knowledge production process, promoting original research and the ability to generate useful knowledge that responds to human needs and social change;
- Stimulate self-learning paths, encouraging autonomous research work, critical analysis and the ability to communicate and disseminate knowledge;
- Promote the integration of students into research networks, facilitating national and international mobility.
