Master in Interaction Design

The Master's in Interaction Design is a master's program that results from a partnership between two schools of the University of Lisbon (Faculdade de Arquitetura and Faculdade de Belas Artes). This program combines multidisciplinary competencies, corresponding to areas of knowledge that have been developed over several years in these schools, through laboratories and research centers.

###Objectives The course explores the boundaries between design methodologies, user-centered design, and new technological developments, as drivers for the creation of high-value products. It combines design process, usability, and user experience, associated with graphic communication, digital games, cognitive psychology, virtual reality, sensorization, and neuroscience.

Competencies to Acquire

  • Use of tools for the functional, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral characterization of users.
  • Development of advanced visual skills for a wide range of products and execution of projects across various platforms (desktop, web, and mobile).
  • Development of methods (research, scenarios, personas, sketching, prototyping, among others), sustained by practice in the elaboration of layouts and images (drawings, schemes, illustrations, photographs), branding, and diagrams.
  • Ability to engage people through gamification mechanisms implemented in digital systems.

Obtaining the Master's Degree

The course promotes a culture of project development in a collaborative environment (atelier) and inserted in research groups, over three semesters. The fourth semester is entirely dedicated to the elaboration of an individual research project, practical, theoretical, or theoretical-practical, under the scientific guidance of a professor or a specialist recognized by the Scientific Councils of the schools that organize the course.

Professional Outcomes

  • Interaction Designer
  • User experience (UX) designer
  • User interface (UI) designer
  • Art director
  • Web designer
  • Mobile designer
  • Information designer

Teaching Staff

The teaching staff of the Master in Interaction Design reflects diversified knowledge and experiences. These teachers, qualified and specialized in the scientific areas of the Study Plan, continuously develop projects and research in the domain of interaction.

###Coordination The coordination of the program is in partnership with FBAUL, with Professor Marco Neves as the coordinator.

Study Plan
