Program Overview

The Erasmus+ program is a European Union initiative that provides students with the opportunity to study or undertake internships abroad. The program is designed to promote mobility, cooperation, and exchange between higher education institutions across Europe.


Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the Erasmus+ program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:


  • Be enrolled in a higher education institution that has an Erasmus+ agreement with the host institution
  • Be a student in a higher education program (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral)
  • Meet the language requirements of the host institution
  • Meet the academic requirements of the host institution

Types of Mobility

The Erasmus+ program offers two types of mobility:


  • Student Mobility for Studies (SMS): This type of mobility allows students to study at a higher education institution abroad for a period of 3 to 12 months.
  • Student Mobility for Placements (SMP): This type of mobility allows students to undertake an internship or placement at a company or organization abroad for a period of 2 to 12 months.

Required Documents

Before traveling abroad, Erasmus+ students must gather the following documents:


  • Identification card
  • European Health Insurance Card
  • Vaccination record (if necessary)
  • Confirmation of acceptance at the host institution
  • Flight ticket or other means of transportation
  • Confirmation of accommodation (if applicable)
  • Some money for the first days of stay in the foreign country

Post-Mobility Requirements

After completing their mobility period, Erasmus+ students must submit the following documents to the mobility office:


  • Declaration of stay
  • Transcript of records

Program Funding

The Erasmus+ program has a budget of 26.2 billion euros for the period 2021-2027, which will fund mobility projects for learning and cooperation across borders, covering ten million Europeans of all ages and backgrounds.
