Introduction to the Master's Program in Sports and Exercise Psychology

The Master's Program in Sports and Exercise Psychology is a unique and innovative program that combines the scientific study of the human mind with the pursuit of excellence in physical performance. This program is the result of a partnership between the Faculty of Psychology and the Faculty of Human Motricity, University of Lisbon.

Program Description

This Master's program is designed for those who want to contribute to the success of athletes and teams, promote mental health and well-being through exercise, and integrate psychological practices into high-demand and innovative contexts. The program offers a double scientific anchor, with a partnership between two reference research centers: the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Human Performance (CIPER) and the Center for Psychological Science Research (CICPsi).

Areas of Specialization

This Master's program offers two areas of specialization, adapted to different professional profiles:


  • For psychologists: An opportunity to deepen competencies and intervene more effectively in promoting performance, resilience, and mental health of athletes, teams, and exercise practitioners.
  • For professionals from other areas: A solid and scientifically-based entry point for an emerging and interdisciplinary career.

Admission Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Sciences or Psychology or related areas (e.g., Management, Human Resources, Sociology, etc.) or a Bachelor's degree in Sports Sciences or related areas.
  • Relevant technical and scientific curriculum and professional experience in the domain of the course.
