Program Overview
The ATHENS Program is an intensive specialization course offered by a network of universities. The program allows students from different institutions to participate in high-level scientific mini-courses and interact with students from various nationalities and backgrounds.
Program Details
- The program consists of two sessions per year, held in March and November.
- Each session lasts for 7 days.
- The program is open to students from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles.
- Approximately 60 courses are offered in each session, covering a wide range of topics from engineering to social sciences.
Application Process
Candidature
- The application process consists of two steps:
- Registration on the ATHENS platform
- Submission of the NMPI application form
- Only applications with both registration on the ATHENS platform and submission of the NMPI application form will be considered valid.
Courses
- Each course has a minimum requirement for participation based on the year of completion.
- Students must consider the number of years of study completed when selecting a course.
- The course is free, but participants are responsible for accommodation, food, and European Dimension Activities.
Scholarship
- ATHENS courses are not funded, except for BIPs ATHENS courses.
- After evaluating applications, participants in BIPs ATHENS courses will be contacted and informed about the procedures to follow.

Cultural Activities
- European Dimension Activities are organized to complement the course.
- The objective is to allow ATHENS students to get to know the host institution and the European city where the course is held.
- Participation in cultural activities is mandatory.
Travel and Accommodation
- Travel costs, including bus, train, or flight tickets, vary greatly.
- In most institutions, accommodation is the responsibility of the participants.
- Institutions that can provide university accommodation will inform students after placement in the courses.
