Program Overview
Portuguese Summer Course
The 90th Summer Portuguese as a Foreign Language Course will be held in 2025, with three sessions: July 1st to 28th, August 1st to 29th, and September 3rd to 30th. Each session consists of 80 hours of contact per month, 5 days a week, and awards 12 ECTS.
Price
The price for each course is €580 per month.
Registration and Admission

Language Levels
- Never studied: Beginner level (A1)
- Have studied, but was never an ICLP student or does not have a CAPLE certificate: Placement determined by diagnostic/placement test
- Was a student at ICLP in a previous course or has a CAPLE certificate: No test necessary, placement at the next level
- The decision-making authority regarding students' language level lies exclusively with the ICLP
- ECTS: 12 ECTS are awarded at all levels of the Summer Course
Syllabus
- 4 weeks – 80 hours
- Levels: A1 (Beginner), A2 (Elementary), B1 (Intermediate I), B2 (Intermediate II), C1 (Advanced), C2 (Proficiency)
- Level C2 program:
- The course is organized into thematic modules
- It has the duration and schedule of the remaining summer levels (20h/week x 4 weeks)
- Modules:
- Advanced topics in the Portuguese Language
- Contemporary Portuguese Culture
- Art History in Portugal
- Reading of literary texts: sample of Portuguese-speaking authors
Assessment and Certificate
- Access to the Summer Course requires a placement test conducted in two stages: online and in-person (on the first day of classes)
- Students who pass will receive a Certificate indicating their grade and proficiency level
- The certificate is free, but subsequent requests incur fees:
- 2nd copy: €5
- 3rd copy or more: €20/document
- Other students may receive a Final Certificate of Participation, upon request, provided they attended at least 75% of the classes
Proof of Enrolment or Attendance
- The Office may issue a declaration confirming the student's enrollment (before the course) or a declaration certifying the student's attendance (during the course)
- Fees:
- 1st copy: Free
- 2nd copy: €5
- 3rd and subsequent copies: €20

- Validity: The declarations remain valid while the student is enrolled and attending, and automatically become invalid in the event of withdrawal
Accommodation
- As an ICLP student, during the months of July and August, you may apply for accommodation in a university residence (shared double room)
- Monthly cost:
- July: €220 per student
- August: €353 per student
- Accommodation is subject to availability, and ICLP is not responsible for managing the housing – it only collects the data of interested students and forwards it to SASULisboa
Scholarships
- Requests for scholarships must be made at the Instituto Camões
Withdrawal and Refund
- If the course is canceled by the ICLP, any amount paid by the student will be fully refunded
- In the event of withdrawal from the course by the student, the tuition fee paid is non-refundable
- Transfers to another course are not allowed
- If the course is canceled by the ICLP, the amount paid by the student will be fully refunded
