Introduction to the Design Equipment Program
The Design Equipment program at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, is a six-semester course that leads to a Bachelor's degree in Design Equipment. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and coordinate design projects in various areas, including product design, industrial design, and interior design.
Program Objectives
The main objective of the Design Equipment program is to train professionals who are able to develop and coordinate design projects in various areas, including product design, industrial design, and interior design. The program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in design principles, techniques, and methodologies, as well as the ability to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical and creative way.
Program Structure
The Design Equipment program is structured into six semesters, with a total of 180 ECTS credits. The program includes a range of courses and modules that cover various aspects of design, including design principles, design techniques, and design methodologies.
1st Year Curriculum
The 1st year curriculum includes the following courses:

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Design Equipment program are qualified to work in a range of fields, including product design, industrial design, and interior design. They can work as designers, design coordinators, or design managers in various industries, including furniture, lighting, and equipment manufacturing. They can also work in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
- Designer of products for industries that use wood and its derivatives (carpentry or joinery), ceramics and glass, metalworking and metal mechanics, plastics, among other technologies.
- Designer of interiors or environments, including outdoor spaces, making interventions or preservation or rehabilitation, covering their equipment, layout and implementation, lighting, signage, coatings and finishes, etc.
- Designer of commercial spaces (stores, stands, points of sale, etc.)
- Designer of cultural spaces (museums, exhibitions, shows, etc.)
- Designer of business spaces (offices, etc.)
- Designer of hotel and hospital spaces (restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, clinics and hospitals, etc.)
- Designer of outdoor spaces (urban spaces, gardens and parks, esplanades, etc.)
- Designer of domestic spaces
Accreditation
The Design Equipment program is accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education, and is registered with the Directorate-General for Higher Education. The program's curriculum and study plan are published on the website of the Directorate-General for Higher Education.
