Introduction to Baylor College of Medicine
Baylor College of Medicine is one of the largest Pediatric Endocrinology training programs in the United States, with four fellows each year. The program is affiliated with Texas Children's Hospital, one of the largest freestanding pediatric hospitals in the country.
Program Overview
The Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship program integrates fellows into a state-of-the-art clinical care model, emphasizing the provision of evidence-based and culturally competent care. The program provides comprehensive clinical training in common endocrine conditions, as well as frequent encounters with rare and complex pediatric endocrine disorders.
Clinical Training
Inpatient clinical skills are supplemented by unique experiences in specialty endocrinology and diabetes clinics, including:
- DSD
- Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes
- Prader Willi syndrome
- Thyroid nodule and cancer
- Lipids
- PCOS
- Others
Education and Research
The fellowship program offers three different tracks and provides structured research opportunities and training in quality improvement. Fellows are given protected time to engage in an extensive curriculum using innovative active learning techniques.
Faculty and Staff
The program has over 30 pediatric endocrinologists on staff and nine advanced practice providers (Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants). The faculty have trained at a variety of programs around the country, including Baylor College of Medicine, Stanford University, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
