Program Overview
Master of Education Program
The Master of Education (MEd) program is a postgraduate degree that prepares students for a career in teaching. To apply for the MEd program, students must first submit an application through the application portal.
Application Requirements
The following requirements must be met by the end of the application period:
- Earned at least 120 credit points
- Completed a qualification and career-orientation work placement, as well as an occupational field work placement
- Attained A2-level proficiency in two foreign languages (or one foreign language when applying for a Master of Education Berufskolleg with one professionally qualifying subject)
- Completed a Self Assessment: "Career Counselling for Teachers" (CCT)
- Provided confirmation of additional foreign language skills for applicants of the Master of Education Gymnasium/Gesamtschule programs
- For transfer students: equivalence certificates, if applicable
Application Process
The application process consists of three steps:
- Apply via the Application Portal: Students apply for all restricted and non-restricted degree programs for first-semester enrollment via the application portal.
- Upload Documents via the Info Portal: Students log in to the Info Portal and upload all required documents, including:
- Bachelor's certificate, degree certificate, or transcript of records (ToR) listing the average grade in each subject of study
- Confirmation of completed career orientation work placement and occupational field work placement
- Confirmation of language knowledge in two foreign languages (or one foreign language for Master of Education Berufskolleg with one professionally qualifying subject)
- Self-assessment certificate
- Additional foreign language skills, if applicable
- Review by the Student Admissions Office: The Student Admissions Office reviews the application and notifies the student via the Info Portal whether the application is complete and has been included in the admissions procedure.
Higher-Semester Enrolment
The application procedure for higher-semester enrollment in the Master of Education program corresponds to the application procedure mentioned above but does not start until the beginning of February or the beginning of August. Students must also upload a semester certificate, and those who wish to change majors or seek higher-semester placement must upload a placement certificate for each subject of study.
Transfer Students
Transfer students must meet the requirements put forth in the state-mandated teaching provisions (LZV) and examination regulations from the University of M𤦂ster. They may be required to complete compensatory studies and submit additional equivalence certificates with their application.
