Program Overview
Introduction to the M³nster Opera Studio
The M³nster Opera Studio offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in a professional opera setting, accompanied by targeted instruction and mentoring offered by the M³nster University of Music. Depending on their suitability and skills for certain roles, the singers will be directly involved in the opera productions at Theater M³nster.
Program Details
The Opera Studio provides members with audition coaching and can help them produce digital application materials. The programme is supplemented by cross-genre projects, courses, and workshops on various themes. The M³nster Opera Studio offers outstanding graduates of artistic Bachelor's degree programmes and/or Master's degree programmes in 'Singing' at all universities of music the opportunity to embark on a career as a soloist in musical theatre.
Program Structure
The program takes place as part of the four-semester university Master's programme 'Music and Creativity' at M³nster University of Music or as part of the two-semester certificate programme 'Certificate Year of Study'. A place in the M³nster Opera Studio can be taken up on admission to the four-semester Master's degree programme Music and Creativity or the two-semester certificate programme Certificate Year of Study at M³nster University of Music.

Admission Requirements
The following requirements must be met:
- Proof of completion (or completion in the summer semester of 2026) of a bachelor's degree in music with a main subject in singing
- German language skills at level B2
- Non-EU applicants with a relevant master's degree must have a valid visa
- Applicants must not be older than 32 years of age at the time of the audition
Application Process
To apply for a place in the opera studio at Theater M³nster, the following documents must be submitted:
- Completed application form
- Letter of motivation
- Artistic CV
- A current video with two arias from the exam program (6 arias from different eras in at least 3 languages, including one aria by W. A. Mozart)
