Comparative Moot Court Environmental Law (CMCEL)

The CMCEL is a simulated court proceeding where students take on the roles of plaintiffs, defendants, or other parties and argue a case with the help of legal experts. The CMCEL focuses on environmental law issues in the context of European Union law. The goal is to facilitate an exchange of ideas and comparison of different legal systems in Europe.

In a recent CMCEL event, students from the University of M■nster and other European universities participated in a simulated court proceeding on a case related to environmental impact assessment and climate change. The students presented their arguments to a panel of judges and later discussed their findings with representatives of the European Commission.

The CMCEL provides students with the opportunity to develop their argumentation and rhetorical skills, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of environmental law in Europe. It also allows students to establish contacts with other students and legal experts from across Europe.
