Mathematics M𤦂ster Graduiertenschule (MMGS)
The MMGS is a joint graduate program of the Exzellenzcluster Mathematik M𤦂ster and the mathematical institutes of the University of M𤦂ster. It was founded in June 2019.
Mentoring
In addition to the academic supervisor, all doctoral students choose a mentor. The mentor is another person of trust who can support the doctoral student in their promotion and subsequent career. The mentoring is intended to promote transparency in the doctoral process and enable early recognition of potential difficulties.
Kooperationen und Netzwerke
Through the Young Mathematician Conference Network, doctoral students and postdocs have the opportunity to organize conferences and summer schools independently. The cluster supports this project financially and organizationally. The cluster also provides travel funds for international cooperation and conference visits for all doctoral students.
Going Abroad: Forschungsaufenthalte f僡 MMGS-Promovierende
Doctoral students at Mathematik M𤦂ster have the opportunity to go abroad for short and long-term research stays to deepen cooperation on projects and strengthen international research networks. Financial support for living expenses, travel costs, and possible tuition fees is possible.
Fachliche und 暅erfachliche Kompetenzen
The department's mathematical events include lectures, seminars, and colloquiums, to which postdocs and doctoral students are invited as speakers and participants. In addition to mathematical events, the cluster regularly offers lectures, seminars, and workshops on non-mathematical topics such as academic work, career planning, equal opportunities, and diversity.
Gleichstellung und Diversit酹
The university offers further training measures for young female scientists, a "women's network" with regular meetings of professors and young female scientists, and the possibility of extending the employment contract during the maternity protection period or family-related leave.
