The Maintenance of Skills for the Use of Live Animals for Scientific Purposes #1 program is designed to provide updates on European and French regulations in animal research, with a focus on rodents. This program is part of the continuous training required for individuals working with live animals in scientific research.

Objectives

The primary objectives of this program are to:

• Update participants on the European and French regulatory framework for animal research
• Inform participants about GMO regulations and their consequences for animal research
• Raise awareness of the ethical considerations in animal research

Target Audience

This program is intended for technicians, engineers, researchers, teachers-researchers, and doctoral students who work with live animals in scientific research.

Prerequisites

Participants are required to have basic knowledge in the use of live animals in scientific purposes and should have completed additional training for zootechnicians, applicators/practitioners, and conceptors (update regulations in animal research: rodents).

Program Structure

The program includes:

• Introduction to animal research
• Regulatory framework for animal testing
• Regulations for the use of genetically modified animals in a confined environment
• The ethical device in animal experimentation

Methods

The program will utilize lectures, practical training, and provide teaching materials, bibliography, and documentation to participants.

Evaluation

Validation of the program will be through a statement of accomplishment, which also validates one day of continuing education to be included in the skills booklet.

• Location: Campus Pierre et Marie Curie Paris (Jussieu)

Fee

The program fee is 450 .

Language

The course can be provided in English or French upon request.

The program is designed for a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 20 participants.

The program will be led by experienced instructors, including Professor of Genetics and Researcher, experts in the use of live animals for scientific purposes.
