Introduction to the Diplôme d'Accès aux Études Universitaires (DAEU B)
The Diplôme d'Accès aux Études Universitaires (DAEU B) is a university diploma that confers the equivalent of a scientific baccalaureate, providing access to all higher scientific or health education and recruitment competitions requiring a baccalaureate.
Objectives
The DAEU B aims to:
- Confer the equivalent of a scientific baccalaureate
- Provide access to higher scientific or health education and recruitment competitions
Competences
The program targets the following competences:
- Understand and mobilize reasoning in scientific domains, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology
- Exploit knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology to perform exercises at the baccalaureate level
- Master text analysis, commentary construction from documents, and argumentative writing
- Develop a methodology for resuming studies to follow university teachings profitably and project oneself into university studies
Public and Prerequisites
The DAEU B is reserved for candidates without a baccalaureate or equivalent title. Conditions for access include:
- Having interrupted initial studies for at least 2 years
- Being at least 20 years old on October 1st of the examination year, with 2 years of salaried professional activity giving rise to social security contributions (or derogation provided by texts)
- Being at least 24 years old on October 1st of the examination year
- For foreign nationals, presenting a residence permit (work card)
Program
The program consists of:
Mandatory Exams
- Mathematics: algebraic calculation reminders, trigonometry, complex numbers, function study, integral calculus elements, probabilities
- French: written expression and general culture, first-class level
Mandatory Options
Choose two from the following:
- Physics: mechanics, electromagnetism, vibration and propagation, waves
- Chemistry: matter structure, solution, acidity and pH, acid/base reaction, oxidation-reduction reaction, dosage, esterification and hydrolysis, organic chemistry, spectral analysis
- Biology: cell, main constituents of living matter, cell cycle, genetics elements, immune system, procreation, endocrinology, nervous system
Methods and Evaluation
The DAEU B preparation is adapted to the requirements and constraints of the continuing education public. It can be prepared in day or evening classes, as well as in a hybrid format. Evaluation modalities include:
- Global: obtaining the exam with a minimum overall average of 10
- Exam by exam: obtaining 10 in each exam
Career Prospects
The career prospects are the same as those of a scientific baccalaureate: licenses, PASS, BTS, DUT/BUT, CPGE, post-baccalaureate engineering schools.

- Duration of the training: 420 hours
- Schedule: evening classes, day classes, distance learning
- Fees:
- Non-financed individuals: €830 for the first registration, €415 for subsequent ones, plus university fees of €175
- Employees financed by their employer: €2,200 for training fees, €170 for university fees
- The modules of the DAEU B are capitalizable, and the diploma can be obtained over several years (maximum 4 consecutive years)
