Program Overview
M1&M2 - Parcours Interfaces Chimie-Biologie : Ingťnierie Molťculaire du Vivant
Contexte de la formation
The interface between chemistry and biology represents a dynamic frontier where fundamental principles of chemistry are applied to understand and manipulate complex biological processes. This disciplinary convergence is crucial in various fields, such as pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, medicine, and fundamental biology. Chemistry plays an essential role in designing, synthesizing, and optimizing chemical objects, such as therapeutic agents and molecular probes or nano-objects/devices, which enable the exploration and modulation of biological processes.
Objectifs pťdagogiques
Acquire concepts and tools of chemistry to:
- Understand and explore living organisms
- Imitate and develop innovative tools and biotechnological approaches
- Develop therapeutic strategies
Prťrequis
- Have followed a combined chemistry and biology curriculum (e.g., Bi-disciplinary Biology-Chemistry License)
- Have completed one or more units and/or an internship at the chemistry-biology interface (a plus)
- Have a coherent professional project and motivation at the chemistry-biology interface
Compťtences disciplinaires
- Design, synthesize, optimize, and characterize molecules for applications in biology and medicine
- Model and characterize physical, chemical, or mechanical phenomena within biological systems
- Acquire concepts and tools for developing innovative devices (biocapteurs...)
- Master cellular phenomena and the physico-chemistry of biological macromolecules
Compťtences transversales
- Conduct bibliographic research
- Search, analyze, and deepen scientific/technical information
- Present a scientific problem in a didactic manner
- Manage a project autonomously
- Integrate into a professional environment
- Work in a multidisciplinary team
- Work in an international context: mastery of English
Organisation des enseignements
The "ChimBio" course is organized according to the following template, which favors mixing between students from the BMC master's and the Chemistry master's. Students in the "ChimBio" course enrolled in the BMC master's will follow two 6-ECTS chemistry units in M1 (one in S1 and one in S2) and then 12 ECTS of opening units at the chemistry-biology interface from a selected list of units within the two master's programs in S2.
Organisation des enseignements M1
The M1 teaching periods are available in PDF format.
