Program Overview


Master MEEF - Parcours Sciences de la vie et de la Terre

The Master MEEF - Parcours Sciences de la vie et de la Terre is a progressive training program for teaching careers in Sciences de la vie et de la Terre (SVT) through disciplinary learning, reflection on pedagogical practices, and internships in front of students over the two years of the Master's program.


Objectives

  • Prepare students for the CAPES and CAFEP competitions to become professors of sciences de la vie et de la Terre in colleges or high schools
  • Acquire, deepen, and consolidate a broad spectrum of knowledge in biology and geology, all of which are required for future teachers
  • Prepare students for their future profession, particularly through internships in schools, teachings of pedagogy and didactics, and workshops of professional practices proposed from the first year in partnership with the INSPE and the Rectorat de Paris

Organisation of the Formation

As of the 2021 academic year, the Master MEEF has been reformed. The most significant change is the shift of the competition from the end of the first year to the end of the second year.


Year 1: Disciplinary Formation and Introduction to the Teaching Profession

  • Updating in sciences de la vie and sciences de la Terre
  • Methodology of SVT teaching in college and high school
  • Six-week observation and accompanied practice internship in a public educational institution
  • Field school in the Alps

Year 2: First Teaching Experience and Preparation for the Competition

  • Internship in responsibility in a public educational institution (6 hours per week, paid 700 net per month)
  • Additional training for the teaching profession
  • Writing of a professional thesis
  • Preparation for the competition

Public Visť and Prerequisites

Admission is based on a file.


The prerequisites for integrating into the first year are:


  • A bi-disciplinary license in sciences de la vie and sciences de la Terre
  • After a year of updating in geology (or biology) for students with a Master's degree in biology (or geology) or a thesis
