Presentation
The Master's program in History, with a focus on Ancient Worlds, is designed to introduce students to scientific research on ancient civilizations. It offers a broad spectrum of studies, including the Greek and Roman worlds, as well as Pharaonic Egypt and the history of ancient religions. This comprehensive approach provides students with a unique opportunity to delve into diverse documentation and to explore disciplines that are less commonly taught, such as numismatics, papyrology, and epigraphy. The incorporation of digital humanities through the exploitation of online databases further enriches the program.
Savoir-faire et competences
Through seminars and supportive courses, students gradually learn the methodology of research on ancient worlds, deepen their knowledge, and perfect their use of research tools. In preparing their Master's theses, they learn to utilize bibliographic instruments, both in libraries and through electronic resources. Sorbonne University offers the possibility of learning and/or improving knowledge of ancient sources and bibliography through the teachings of classical languages and specialized disciplines presented in the models of the UFR of History.
Dimension internationale
Students are encouraged to use multilingual bibliography. Courses designed for reading texts in English, German, and Italian are provided by teachers. Several international study and exchange programs (Erasmus, Franco-Italian University) allow for the broadening of basic knowledge. Furthermore, the networks of teacher-researchers supervising students offer possibilities for short-term internships and scholarships abroad.

Poursuite d'etudes
This training is obviously an introduction to doctoral research in ancient history. During their M1 and M2 course, students have learned the basic elements to undertake well-structured research that opens the way to higher education teaching. They can also apply for other training programs: military schools, journalism schools, tourist guide training, etc.
Insertion professionnelle
This training provides knowledge that allows students to apply for other professional paths, such as teaching professions (primary, secondary, and higher education; pedagogical animation); journalism and publishing professions, to become a journalist, editorial assistant, editor, or bookseller; professions in historical and cultural heritage, notably archaeology and museology; tourism professions to become a tourism office director, cultural and tourist mediator, guide, and tourist animator. It is emphasized that training in the history of ancient worlds, and particularly in this program, is stimulating because it allows confrontation with original texts, monuments, archaeological sites, while exiting a dimension exclusively historical. This interdisciplinary opening ensures a certain intellectual agility that influences the capacity for expression, work, and organization.
