Program Overview


Master's Degree in Automation and Robotics

The Master's degree in Automation and Robotics aims to train specialists in the design of complex robotic systems and/or intelligent systems with perception, learning, decision-making, and action capabilities in interaction with the environment. The training focuses more particularly on the aspects of modeling, simulation, and control of these systems, while integrating the multidisciplinary aspects specific to robotic systems such as perception of the environment, reflexive control, artificial intelligence, and interaction with the environment.


Objectives

The objective of the Master's degree is to prepare students for the duties and functions of engineers oriented towards Research & Development in manufacturing or mobile robotics or advanced and intelligent automatic systems. Around the program's two articulations, robotics and intelligent systems, it provides the basic multidisciplinary knowledge in engineering sciences specific to these two fields, as well as the fundamentals specific to the analysis and modeling of any complex mechanical system with autonomous capabilities or to the understanding of living systems in behaviors, human interactions, learning, and social signals.


Organization

The Master's program offers two courses, Advanced Systems and Robotics (SAR) in agreement with the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), and Intelligent Systems (IS).


  • The first year covers the tools related to engineering sciences in a common core with the other master's degrees in the Engineering Sciences department, then the fundamentals of robotic and intelligent systems in a common core degree.
  • The second year offers specialized courses for both tracks with a choice of common teaching units that allow students to personalize their course according to their professional project.
  • An industrial or research internship of two to four months is carried out in the first year.
  • A multidisciplinary integrative project is offered in the second year, followed by the compulsory 6-month master's internship in a laboratory or company.

Target Audience and Prerequisites

The Master's program is open to students with a bachelor's degree in mechanics, electronics (EEA), physics, or computer science, or an equivalent diploma, who meet the necessary prerequisites for the training.


  • The second year is open to students with a basic engineering background who have completed their first year of a Master's degree, as well as to students in their final year of an engineering school.

The training leads to careers as research engineers in regional, national, and international companies in the fields of robotic, mechanical, or mechatronic systems, interactive systems, embedded systems, and intelligent systems, and to careers as researchers and teacher-researchers by pursuing a doctorate.
