Program Overview

Master of Information (MI) Program

The Master of Information (MI) program at Dalhousie University prepares graduates for a dynamic and growing profession. With a people-centered approach, the program equips students to discover, organize, analyze, and provide access to information and knowledge, ensuring effective management that delivers the right information to the right people at the right time.

Program Overview

The MI program is accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) and globally recognized. It is ideal for those eager to lead in information-driven fields, with career paths diverse and wide-ranging. Alumni work as librarians, archivists, policy analysts, data and records managers, researchers, client service managers, and knowledge management consultants.

Personalize Your Learning

Students can personalize their learning with certificates, combined degrees, work-integrated learning, reading courses, and thesis options. This is a direct-entry program, meaning all undergraduate degrees are acceptable, and no work experience is necessary for admission.

Research that Makes an Impact

Faculty and student researchers seek to solve complex issues related to data, information, and knowledge. Students who choose a research path in the MI program will explore the various ways information is created, organized, preserved, and used by people and groups globally.
