Indigenous Student Access Pathway
Program Overview
The Indigenous Student Access Pathway (ISAP) is a one-year program designed for First Nations, M彋is, and Inuit students. It provides foundational coursework and dedicated support for Indigenous students who may not meet the current minimum high school prerequisites for admission to Dalhousie University.
Course Load
ISAP students are registered in up to six courses (three credit and one non-credit) in both the Fall and Winter terms. Upon successful completion, students earn between 18-24 credits that are transferable to other degree programs.
Supports and Services
ISAP students have access to the campus Manager of Indigenous Students and various support services and opportunities within the program.
Program Dates
ISAP is a two-semester program starting in September. Successful students can apply for enrollment in their chosen program the following term.
Student Eligibility
To be considered for admission, applicants must:
- Provide proof of Indigenous ancestry
- Present a valid high school diploma
- Have a minimum of 65% in English 12 Academic
- Submit a personal statement describing educational goals and commitment
- Have two references independently submitted
Application Process
The application process involves:
- Completing a Dalhousie Undergraduate Application
- Having a high school transcript sent directly from the issuing school
- Completing the Application and Resume Form
- Providing evidence of Indigenous connection
- Submitting two reference letters using the ISAP Reference Form
