Program Description
A Medical Certificate of Death is the permanent legal record of death and its cause and manner. In Nova Scotia, only a physician or nurse practitioner who is responsible for the treatment and care of a patient may legally complete and submit a Medical Certificate of Death to the funeral director.
Course Details
Completion of this module will prepare nurse practitioners to complete a Medical Certificate of Death. It will assist the nurse practitioner to identify instances when completion of the certificate falls under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiners Office. Upon completion of the module, a notice of completion will be provided for records.
