Program Overview

The Wildfire and Climate Change Adaptation Management course is an 18-hour online program spanning six weeks. It is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to climate change-related disasters, focusing on wildfire resilience and management.


Course Description

This course explores the impacts of climate change on natural disasters, particularly wildfires, and delves into strategies for mitigation and adaptation. Students will learn about climate change models, greenhouse gas emissions, and the transformations occurring in the natural environment. The course also covers successful wildfire resilience activities, Canadian wildfire impacts within a global context, and systems for effective wildfire suppression operations.

Instructor

The instructor, Brian Hutchinson, is a well-known and respected expert in firefighting, wildfire response, and fire service education. He is currently the Superintendent of Provincial Operations - Fire Services at the BC Wildfire Service.
