Simulation Education
The Department delivers an active simulation program, engaging residents in simulation throughout their years in both formative and summative experiences. Residents practice high acuity low occurrence events in a safe environment and attend multiple skills sessions on task trainers and at times use the cadaver lab.
- The residents have become teachers and use simulation to enhance the medical student learners' elective experience.
- Simulation is used in multiple interprofessional settings to create collaborative working environments with the intent to improve knowledge and patient care.
- Staff sessions have also been offered, utilizing:
- High and low fidelity simulation labs
- Surgical skills center
- Cadaver lab
- Multiple task trainers for specific needs
- In-situ opportunities
