Program Overview


Course Description

This introductory course will introduce students to professional construction management in the engineering and construction industry. Additionally, students will learn about the development and organization of projects, the organization of professional construction management, and professional construction management in practice using an example project. Students will then focus on preconstruction sites and all of the elements that are involved, and the course concludes with a focus on construction and the application of controls.

Instructor Biography

Eman H. Al-Ali, PMP, LEED AP BD&C, PEng, is an engineer in Ontario with over 25 years of experience in the field of civil engineering. She is passionate about learning and helping others learn as engineering science evolves. After completing her B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering at Basra University, she pursued her M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from Baghdad University. She was offered a teaching position at the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq to teach different civil engineering materials. While at the University of Technology, Eman established the first personal computer laboratory in 1986. She also held a position as a structural engineer in Baghdad where she mastered her skills in structural design and inspection, quality control, and quality assurance, and enriched her expertise in the project management field.
