Program Overview


Course Description

The course, OLCD-HEAL0022 - Healthy Aging, is a free and easy-to-navigate online learning experience designed for older Canadians and their caregivers. It provides best practices and advice for healthy aging, covering topics such as aging well in place, nutritional and dietary needs, physical health and recreation, and strategies for caregivers.


Course Outline

The course is divided into four modules:


Module 1: Planning and Navigating Care at Home

This module reviews common supports required for older adults and important aspects of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, medication management, legal aspects, and driving.


Module 2: Nutrition and Healthy Aging

This module shares nutrition information and guidelines from reliable, evidence-based sources, focusing on the most significant areas of general nutrition for optimal health and well-being in older adults.


Module 3: Recreation and Wellness

By building an understanding of how recreation positively impacts well-being, this module helps participants reflect on their relationship to physical activity and how it affects physical and mental health at different stages of life.


Module 4: The Caregiving Journey

The objective of this module is to guide learners through the eldercare process, providing tips, strategies, and information on various parts of the process, including productivity, care levels, and housing options.
