Program Overview

The Pharmacy Technician Administration of Drugs by Injection - Recertification program is a collaborative effort between the College of Pharmacy - Continuing Pharmacy Education, the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists (NSCP), and the Pharmacy Association of Nova Scotia (PANS). This program is designed for Pharmacy Technicians seeking recertification.


Program Components

The program consists of two main components:


  • Pharmacy Technician Administration of Drugs by Injection: This component comprises 8 online modules, which can be completed in approximately four to five hours. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the post-study online test to be eligible for the practical workshop.
  • Administration of Injections Workshop: This hands-on training and certification component focuses on the administration of injections. Participants will be provided with necessary supplies and will have the opportunity to practice required skills under the guidance of trained certifiers from Dal CPE's IIATP/PTADI Team.

Program Details

The Administration of Injections Workshop includes both virtual and in-person components. Participants must successfully administer an intramuscular and a subcutaneous injection to receive a certificate of completion for the workshop. The program is designed to provide Pharmacy Technicians with the necessary knowledge and skills to administer drugs by injection safely and effectively.
