Course Description

This is the third module in the non-credit, online Sectional Anatomy for Health Professionals course. The relational aspects between anatomic structures as well as position within the body will be demonstrated in a variety of different anatomic planes.

Course Outline

  • Objectives to guide the learner through required goals for each module.
    • The objectives are designed to ensure learners understand the anatomy of the upper and lower extremities.
  • PowerPoint presentations of the indicated body parts will be provided which consist of a series of medical images in multiple planes.
    • This format allows the student to scroll through a series of images and appreciate the relational nature of the anatomy.
  • Static diagnostic images and diagrams will reinforce localization of anatomy.
    • These images and diagrams are essential for understanding the anatomy of the upper and lower extremities.
  • Contrast and Compare section will demonstrate anatomy and some common pathology using different imaging modalities.
    • This section will help learners understand the differences between normal and abnormal anatomy.
  • A self test will allow learners to measure their knowledge.
    • The self-test is designed to assess learners' understanding of the course material.
