Introduction to the Creative Writing Program
The Creative Writing Program at the University of Oregon is a renowned program that offers students the opportunity to hone their writing skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. The program is led by a faculty of accomplished writers who are dedicated to teaching and mentoring students.
Program Options
The Creative Writing Program offers both graduate and undergraduate options for students. At the graduate level, the program is a two-year, fully funded residency that leads to a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. Students in the MFA program can concentrate in either poetry or fiction.
Undergraduate Options
At the undergraduate level, students can choose from two tracks:
- A minor in creative writing, which includes workshops, seminars, and literature courses.
- The Walter and Nancy Kidd Creative Writing Workshops, a unique yearlong studio experience that allows students to pursue their passion for creative writing in small classes with the support of peers and a graduate mentor.
