The Microbiology and Chemistry program at Ain Shams University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the fields of microbiology and chemistry. The program is unique in that it is the only microbiology department among science faculties in Egypt. Admission Requirements
Admission to the program is based on the college's internal regulations, which require students to complete 140 credited hours for dual specialties. The program is open to the top 60 applicants.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes:
- 30 credited hours of college requirements, comprising 12 credited hours of general basic sciences and 18 credited hours of basic sciences required for the specialization.
- 102 credited hours of program requirements, comprising 40 credited hours of compulsory courses, 11 credited hours of elective courses, and 51 credited hours of compulsory and elective courses in the dual specialization.
Elective Courses
Students can choose one elective course from the following options:
- One credited hour for a course on work skills.
- One credited hour for a course on the history and philosophy of science.
- One credited hour for a course on environmental culture.
Compulsory Courses
Compulsory courses include:
- One credited hour for a course on safety and security.
- Four credited hours for English language courses.
- One credited hour for a course on scientific thinking.
- One credited hour for a course on research ethics.
