Degree Award
Ain Shams University awards the Bachelor of Clinical Dentistry to students who successfully complete the program under the credit hour system.
Admission Requirements
Enrollment in the program is open to Egyptian and international students holding a General Secondary Education Certificate (Science Section) or its equivalent. Applicants must:
- Submit all required documents to the Student Affairs Department
- Complete all relevant registration forms
- Present a valid English language proficiency certificate
- Successfully pass a medical examination
- Not have been permanently expelled from any university
Study System
The program follows a regular attendance system, with no part-time or distance enrollment allowed. The program operates under the credit hour system, with:
- One credit hour equal to one lecture hour per week
- Two or three hours of laboratory or clinical sessions per week
- All courses taught in English
- A total of 189 credit hours required for graduation
- The curriculum includes University Requirements (general humanities courses) and Faculty Requirements (basic medical sciences and applied clinical sciences)
Academic Calendar and Enrollment
The academic year is divided into three semesters:
- First Semester: Begins on the third Saturday of September and lasts for 16 weeks
- Second Semester: Begins on the second Saturday of February and lasts for 16 weeks
- Summer Semester: Begins on the first Saturday of July and lasts for 8 weeks Registration for any semester must be completed within two weeks before its start.
Duration of Study
The minimum duration of study for the program is five academic years.
Tuition Fees
The educational service fees per credit hour are determined annually by the University. An annual increase of up to 10% may be applied. Students must sign a commitment to pay the prescribed tuition fees for the entire duration of study.
Registration Rules
Students may register for:
- Up to 21 credit hours with a cumulative GPA 2.00
- Up to 18 credit hours with a GPA between 1.00 and < 2.00
- Up to 14 credit hours with a GPA below 1.00 Students may not register for a course without having passed its prerequisite(s).
Academic Advisor
Each student is assigned an academic advisor from among the faculty members upon admission. The advisor follows up on the student's academic performance and assists in course selection.
Course Adjustment, Withdrawal, and Deletion
Students may:
- Change registered courses within two weeks from the start of the semester
- Withdraw from a course within a maximum of eight weeks from the start of the first or second semester
- Withdraw from a semester for an approved excuse, with the option to retake withdrawn courses in a later semester.
