Program Overview

Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology Program Electronic Technology Track

About the Program

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology program plays a significant role in various industries, ranging from power to integrated circuits, and involves computation systems to control machines and robots. This program builds a good foundation in power generation, transmission, and distribution, and gives exposure to instrumentation and process automation. The curriculum, designed in collaboration with industry, focuses on Electrical and Electronics projects and blends in-class academic learning with hands-on laboratory and field testing.

Course Details

  • Study Plan
  • Course Outline
  • Learning Outcomes Students will learn relevant theoretical and practical knowledge to support their career. Courses will be delivered with components of face-to-face classroom instruction and computer-aided PCB Design. Emphasis will be given to Power System technology, workshops, and hands-on experimental laboratory testing. Effective technical communication will be emphasized throughout the program. This program covers the concept of Electrical Engineering technology, especially in the areas of AC and DC machines. It includes courses in different areas of power, such as power system analysis, power system protection, smart grid, power transmission, and distribution. The program provides a detailed study of the design, testing, and development of electronic and Electrical circuits. Students will gain knowledge in electronics, including analog and digital electronics, VLSI, VHDL Design, microprocessor, microcontroller, and embedded systems, which play a significant role in Electrical technology. Students will also gain additional skills in MATLAB to model electrical systems and single-line diagrams. Artificial intelligence is integrated across the program to enhance learning, support innovation, and prepare students for future technological challenges. A total of 120-140 credit hours will be required to graduate, including core and elective courses in Electrical and Electronics Engineering technology. Students can expect to spend an average of 25-28 contact hours per week in class, workshops, and labs, with additional time spent studying, completing assignments, and doing research.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge in contractual obligations, applicable laws, standards, bylaws, codes, and ethical practices in the Power, Electrical, and Electronics field.
  2. Assist in the scheduling, cost estimation, and monitoring of the Power and Electrical industries.
  3. Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology (electronic and digital technologies) to solve broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology.
  4. Design systems, components, or processes meeting specific needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology.
  5. Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly defined technical and non-technical environments and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  6. Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
  7. Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology.

Electronics Engineering Technology Track
