About the Program

The Electrical Power and Protection Engineering program is a distinctive program at the Faculty of Engineering in Helwan, aiming to prepare qualified engineers to contribute effectively to making progress in the field of electrical power and protection engineering. Objectives

The program's objectives include:


  • Preparing specialized engineering cadres in the field of generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy, with a focus on electrical protection systems.
  • Meeting the needs of the local, regional, and international labor market by qualifying distinguished graduates who can compete in the energy and electrical industries.
  • Enhancing applied knowledge by offering advanced courses that cover the latest technologies in the field of electric power, such as:
    • Smart energy systems (Smart Grid)

    • Renewable energy and its integration with conventional grids

Enrollment Requirements for Bachelor's Degree

A student is admitted to the Electrical Power and Protection Engineering program if they meet one of the following conditions:


  • The student must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and has been coordinated to the Faculty of Engineering in Helwan.
  • The student must be accepted in one of the governmental engineering colleges or its equivalent at the level of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
  • The student must be enrolled in one of the credit hour programs at engineering colleges in the Arab Republic of Egypt and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.
  • The student must be enrolled in the preparatory or first division of one of the engineering faculties in the Arab Republic of Egypt and not fail.
  • The student must be an expatriate student from an Arab, African, or foreign country who has been admitted to the Faculty of Engineering.
