Program Overview
The HMU Fellowship in Ideas
The HMU Fellowship in Ideas is a unique, nine-month virtual fellowship offered by Harrison Middleton University (HMU) for recent graduates interested in the humanities and interdisciplinary dialogue. This fellowship is designed for emerging scholars from any field, providing an opportunity to engage deeply with the great ideas of Western civilization, network with academicians, and gain professional enrichment.
Program Details
Over the course of the nine-month program, Fellows will:
- Participate in virtual Socratic discussions with university faculty and other Fellows.
- Contribute two blog entries to the Harrison Middleton University Blog.
- Publish one book review in HMU: Dialogues, the university's biannual newsletter.

Eligibility Criteria
This fellowship is open to applicants who:
- Have recently received a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in any field.
- Have a genuine interest in the humanities.
- Demonstrate outstanding reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Can commit to the writing and participation requirements.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- A completed application form.
- A biographical statement (max 500 words) detailing your background and interest in the fellowship.
- An expository essay (max 1500 words) on a "great idea" in the humanities.
