Introduction to the DLR-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme
The DLR-DAAD Research Fellowship Programme is a collaborative effort between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). DLR is Germany's national research center for aeronautics and space, engaging in extensive research and development work in various fields, including Aeronautics, Space, Energy, Transport, Digitalisation, and Security.
Eligibility Criteria
This programme is designed for highly-qualified foreign graduates, doctoral and postdoctoral students, as well as senior scientists. The fellowships are awarded on an individual basis, with each announcement specifying the required qualifications and terms of visit.

Duration of Funding
The duration of funding varies depending on the type of fellowship:
- Type A - Graduate Students: 9 months
- Type B - Doctoral Students: 36 months
- Type C - Postdoctoral Students: 6 to 24 months
- Type D - Senior Scientists: 1 to 3 months
Value of the Fellowship
The value of the fellowship also varies by type:
- Type A Graduate Students: monthly instalment of 992 euros, plus additional benefits such as a flat-rate travel allowance, rent subsidy, health insurance, and family allowances
- Type B - Doctoral Students: monthly instalment of 1,760 euros, plus benefits including a flat-rate travel allowance, health insurance, and family allowances
- Type C - Postdoctoral Students: 2,400 euros per month
- Type D - Senior Scientists: 2,760 euros per month
Application and Funding Details
Applicants can only apply for a DLR institute, not for a university or any other institution, within the DLR-DAAD programme. The current offers are published under DLR-DAAD Fellowships on the homepages of the DAAD and the DLR.
