Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program
Program Overview
Program Overview
The Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence program at Sohag University's Faculty of Engineering aims to equip students with advanced skills in electronics, computers, software, and control systems, all within the framework of artificial intelligence systems. This program is designed to produce well-rounded engineers who can compete in the local and regional job market and conduct scientific research to serve the community and develop the environment.
Program Description
The program focuses on providing students with a comprehensive education in computer engineering and artificial intelligence, including the design, development, and application of intelligent systems. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including computer networks, database systems, computer vision, machine learning, and data science.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Fulfill all the conditions set by the college council.
- Students who did not directly join the Faculty of Engineering at Sohag University through the coordination office can join the specialized programs with fees only, paying the prescribed tuition fees. However, they are not allowed to transfer to the main programs at the college until they graduate.
- Transfer students from similar programs at other Egyptian or international universities can be accepted, provided they meet the college's admission requirements and follow the rules set by the college council.
- International students can be accepted through the General Administration for Foreign Students, subject to the admission conditions set by the Supreme Council of Universities each year.
Duration of Study
The program lasts for five academic years (ten semesters), with each semester lasting fifteen weeks. Some courses may be offered during a seven-week summer semester. Exceptional students can graduate in four years (eight semesters) after completing all the requirements.
Language of Study
The program is taught in English.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must:
- Successfully complete (with a grade of D or higher) all the required courses, with a minimum of 160 credit hours.
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (C).
- Pass the military training course.
- Complete other non-credit courses, such as summer training.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the program can expect to find employment in various fields, including:
- Distributed systems and networks, including cloud computing, wireless and mobile networks, digital forensics, the Internet of Things, and parallel computing.
- Software engineering, with a deep understanding of all aspects of software development, including financial, administrative, design, security, and performance aspects.
- Data science, covering a wide range of topics, including big data, machine learning, deep learning, and various applications such as bioinformatics and business intelligence.
- Companies that manufacture integrated systems, smart systems, devices, and equipment, as well as companies that produce vehicles of all kinds.
- Companies that manufacture modern communication devices and systems, and companies that produce weapons and civilian and military aircraft, which increasingly rely on artificial intelligence systems.
- Logistics and transportation companies that use artificial intelligence to reduce accidents and alleviate traffic congestion.
- E-commerce sites, to gain a clear picture of customer behavior in purchasing processes and provide recommendations.
- Social media applications to limit privacy breaches.
- Healthcare, such as medical examination applications, improving clinical workflow, predicting patient cases in intensive care units, and predicting acquired hospital diseases.
Vision and Mission
The vision of the program is to achieve a leading position in the field of computer engineering and artificial intelligence, both locally and regionally. The mission is to prepare distinguished, scientifically and professionally qualified engineers who can compete in the job market, conduct scientific research, and serve the community and develop the environment, all within the framework of community values.
