Test Overview

IELTS is worldwide recognized as a secure, valid, and reliable indicator of true-to-life ability to communicate in English for education, immigration, and professional accreditation. IELTS is required for entry to universities in the UK, Egypt, and other countries. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and the University of Cambridge English Language Assessment.

Test Objectives

IELTS assesses the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication.

Scoring

The test is scored from 1 to 9 for each part of the test Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. It produces test-takers' overall and band score (e.g., 5, 6, 7 or 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 bands in each part of the test).
