Program Overview
Introduction to the Master's Program
The University Senghor, in partnership with the University of Szeged (Hungary), offers a joint master's program in International Relations, with a focus on Europe-Africa Development. This two-year program (or one year for direct admission to the second year) leads to a double degree: the Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Szeged and the Master's degree in Development with a specialization in International Relations: Europe-Africa Cooperation from the University Senghor.
Objectives of the Program
The objectives of this master's program are to:
- Acquire solid knowledge of the major aspects of African continent development and the impact of Europe-Africa relations on these aspects.
- Transmit concepts that allow for the analysis of different interactions between Europe and Africa, applied to development.
- Strengthen the capacity of students to implement policies and action plans in the context of development, considering economic, political, and social dimensions.
- Develop the ability to manage international projects aimed at the development of the African continent and in the context of international relations between the African and European continents.

Admission Requirements
Entry into the First Year of the Master's (M1)
- Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree (level bac+3 validated) or an equivalent diploma validated and issued by a recognized institution in the relevant fields.
- Students who have not followed a training program in international relations at the bachelor's level can also apply. However, once admitted, these students must validate 30 additional ECTS credits during their master's studies to obtain their diploma.
- Candidates must have a good command of the French language and real knowledge of English.
- Selection is based on the candidate's academic record, followed by an interview.
Direct Entry into the Second Year of the Master's (M2)
- Candidates must be holders of a master's degree (level bac+5 validated) or an equivalent diploma validated and certified by the University Senghor or one of its partners.
- Candidates must have a good command of the French language and real knowledge of English.
- Selection is based on the candidate's academic record, followed by an interview.
Pedagogical Methods
The program is composed of teaching units giving ECTS credits, conforming to the LMD system. The approaches and learning methods are diversified, aiming at the development of competencies (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) to account for the professional nature of the Master's.
Program Structure
The Master's program spans two academic years (M1+M2) or one year for direct admission to M2. The entry into the second year, via the University Senghor, is open to students who justify the required level.
Tuition Fees
- For candidates admitted in the first year, the tuition fees amount to 3,600 per year, totaling 7,200 for the two-year program, including tuition, accommodation in a university residence, and health insurance.
- For candidates admitted directly into the second year, the tuition fees amount to 4,000, including tuition, accommodation, and health insurance.
Application Procedure
Candidates must apply electronically to both universities, submitting the required documents, including a CV, project summary, motivation letter, letters of recommendation, and legalized copies of all diplomas from the baccalaureate (or equivalent).

- Deadline for payment of tuition fees: Three weeks after receiving the pre-admission notice
- Start of the academic year: August 30, 2024
Visa Application Procedure
The University of Szeged works in close cooperation with national and European authorities to facilitate visa application procedures for admitted students. Detailed information and necessary certificates for visa applications will be provided to admitted students after they have paid their tuition fees.
Travel and Accommodation
- Travel costs (from the country of residence to Hungary and return) are entirely at the student's expense.
- An accommodation and orientation system will be in place from Budapest Airport to facilitate students' arrival in Szeged.
