Program Overview
Introduction to the University Program
The University Senghor, located in Alexandria, Egypt, is offering a certified short course in "Governance and Management of Civil Society Organizations" from July 8 to 19, 2024, on the university's distance learning platform, and from July 22 to 26, 2024, in Lomé, Togo.
Presentation
This certificate aims to improve the performance of institutions and actors of NGOs and associations, taking into account three interdependent levels: individual competence, organizational functioning, and environmental characteristics. The course is designed to strengthen the capacities of French-speaking civil society organization (CSO) executives in governance, project management, strategy, and administrative and financial management.
Target Audience
The training is intended for professionals working in CSOs, including executives, project managers, and their assistants, as well as professionals in technical and financial partner organizations of CSOs.
Competencies
At the end of the training, participants should be able to:
- Cite the principles of good governance of NGOs and associations
- Explain the fundamental principles of NGO/association management
- Implement the basic elements of program and project management tools
- Understand the administrative and financial management of CSOs
- Develop strategic actions in their organizations
Pedagogical Modalities
The training is designed as "learning by practice" and is built around a community of learning and sharing of good practices. The course is organized into four modules, with a focus on exchange and individualized follow-up.
Evaluation
Participants will receive a questionnaire before the training to assess their knowledge and expectations. During the training, participants will be evaluated through various methods, including group work, multiple-choice questions, and document preparation.
Certification
The training will lead to the awarding of a university certificate of 4 ECTS credits, issued by the University Senghor, for participants who have validated all the modules.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be a citizen and resident of an African country or Haiti
- Be a professional in activity and able to make themselves available during the training period
- Have a relevant profile in terms of their training, position, missions, and activities within their organization
- Justify a level of Master 1 or a license and at least 3 years of professional experience
Application
Candidates must submit their application online, including a detailed CV and a letter of motivation, by May 5, 2024.
Tuition Fees
The participation fee is 1000 euros, which includes access to the training and daily lunch. Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the selected candidates.
