Introduction to the University Program
The University Senghor, located in Alexandria, Egypt, is offering a certified short course in Governance and Management of Civil Society Organizations. This program is designed to improve the performance of institutions and actors in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations.
Presentation
The certificate program aims to enhance the capacities of executives in French-speaking civil society organizations in areas such as governance, project management, strategy, and administrative and financial management. The program is delivered in a hybrid mode, with two weeks of online instruction via the University Senghor's distance learning platform and one week of in-person instruction in Cotonou, Benin.
Objectives
The program seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Improve the governance and management of civil society organizations
- Enhance the skills of executives in areas such as project management, strategy, and administrative and financial management
- Promote the durability of civil society organizations' actions
Target Audience
The program is designed for:
- Executives and managers working in civil society organizations
- Executives in partner organizations of civil society organizations
- Project managers and their assistants
- Professionals in development cooperation
- Resource mobilization managers
- Officials, civil servants, or managers responsible for programming, planning, or budgeting
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the program, candidates must:
- Be a citizen and resident of an African country or Haiti
- Be a professional with at least three years of experience
- Have a master's degree or equivalent
- Have a good command of French (level B2 or higher)
Program Structure
The program consists of four modules, which cover the following topics:
- Principles of good governance of NGOs and associations
- Fundamentals of management of NGOs and associations
- Project management and strategic planning
- Administrative and financial management of civil society organizations
Evaluation
The program includes various evaluation methods, such as:
- Questionnaires to assess participants' knowledge and expectations
- Group work and case studies
- Presentations and role-playing exercises
- A final exam to assess participants' understanding of the program content
Certification
Participants who complete the program will receive a university certificate of 4 ECTS credits, issued by the University Senghor.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for the program is 750 euros, which includes access to the online platform and lunch during the in-person session. Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the participants.
Application Procedure
Candidates must submit their application online, including:
- A detailed curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum)
- A motivation letter (1 page maximum) explaining their reasons for applying to the program
- A copy of their diploma and transcripts
The selection committee will review the applications and conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates. The deadline for applications is November 9, 2023.
