Program Overview

Introduction to the Certificat en Gouvernance et Management des Organisations de la Sociťtť Civile (GMOSC)

The Certificat en Gouvernance et Management des Organisations de la Sociťtť Civile (GMOSC) is a training program designed by the Institut Africain de Management (IAM - Burkina Faso) and the Universitť Senghor (USenghor - Egypt), under the impetus of the NGO Diakonia. This program is aimed at executives of partner organizations of Diakonia in Burkina Faso.

Presentation

This certificate aims to improve the performance of institutions and actors of NGOs and associations in a sustainable way, taking into account three interdependent levels: individual competence, organizational functioning, and environmental characteristics. The objective of the training is to strengthen the capacities of executives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in governance, project management, strategy, and administrative and financial management of these organizations.

Target Audience

This certificate is intended for executives and managers working within Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who are partners of Diakonia in Burkina Faso, with a validated Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and/or relevant professional experience of at least 3 years in responsibilities related to governance and management of organizations.

Training Approach

The training is delivered in a hybrid mode, combining distance learning and face-to-face sessions, over a period of 4 weeks. This approach allows participants to reconcile this learning with their professional activity. The training includes video capsules, documentary resources, pedagogical activities, testimonials, tutoring, and webinars, all deployed through the Universitť Senghor's digital learning platform.

Expected Competencies

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Cite the principles of good governance of CSOs and understand the separation of roles and responsibilities between the board of directors and the management.
  • Explain the fundamental principles of CSO management.
  • Implement the basic elements of program and project management tools.
  • Understand the administrative and financial management of CSOs.
  • Develop strategic actions within organizations.
  • Share their experience with peers in other countries.

Registration and Fees

There are no tuition fees for the training. However, participants are required to pay a fee of 10,000 FCFA for living expenses (coffee breaks and lunches) during the two weeks of face-to-face sessions. Applications must be submitted online through the Universitť Senghor's platform, accompanied by a curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation, a photocopy of the diploma or document justifying professional experience, and a letter from the first responsible of the CSO.
