Target Audience

This continuing education program is intended for:

• Managers of protected areas from public, parapublic, and private sectors in West Africa, working in the field of monitoring/evaluation of protected areas.
• It also addresses executives from NGOs or associations working in this field. Candidates must have initial professional experience and a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Pedagogical Approach

The training is structured into modules that combine theoretical courses and examples. The training program is structured as follows:

• Phase 1 (distance learning): Modules to be followed online by selected participants.
  • Prerequisites: validation of MOOC-Ecological Monitoring and MOOC-New Technologies.
• Phase 2 (face-to-face): Modules in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
  • Module 1 (CGA): Conservation policies and problems of protected area management.
  • Module 2 (EPA): Evaluation and planning of protected area management.
  • Module 3 (DE): Participatory management and environmental mediation.
  • Module 4 (AL): Notions of Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Module 5 (TTD1): New technologies applied to bio-monitoring.

Candidature and Selection of Candidates

Evaluation and Certification

The training will be subject to evaluation and will allow, in case of success, the obtaining of a University Diploma (DU) in "Gestion des Aires Protégées: Bio-monitoring", awarded by the Université Senghor d'Alexandrie, Egypt.
