Program Overview

Introduction to the Bachelor of Physics Program

The Bachelor of Physics program was established to meet the increasing need for applied sciences and to provide the community with distinguished researchers in the field of physics. The program aims to prepare scientifically qualified graduates to develop the surrounding environment and meet the needs of the job market in the Kingdom.

Overview of the Program

The program was established for several reasons, including:

  • Awareness of the importance of applied sciences and the increasing need for them in most recent developments.
  • Providing the community with distinguished researchers in the field of physics in line with great development in this field.
  • Enabling students to find suitable jobs in Al-Baha area.
  • Meeting the requirements of the job market in the field of physics.
  • Meeting the requirements of development and the vision of the Kingdom 2030 in the basic sciences in general and in physics in particular.

Objectives of the Program

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Provide the student with basic principles, concepts, and modern theories of physical phenomena.
  • Provide students with balanced skills in different areas of physics (experimental, theoretical, computational, and computer).
  • Instill professional and ethical behavior, effective communication skills, and teamwork skills.
  • Prepare physicists able to compete in research, applied, and professional fields to meet the requirements of the community and the job market and in line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030.

Outcomes of the Program

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Explain the basic concepts and principles of various physics branches, including solid state and fluid properties, principles of thermodynamics, atomic physics, laser and optics, electricity and electronic circuits, nuclear and radiation physics, classical mechanics, and modern physics.
  • Demonstrate the theoretical and mathematical fundamentals related to experimental physics techniques.
  • Analyze various physical phenomena with consideration of physical theories.
  • Explain the basics and uses of computer technology in the field of physical applications.
  • Discuss advanced theories in modern physics.
  • Apply the concepts and physical laws in research purposes.
  • Choose the optimal solutions to physical problems based on analytical thinking, taking into account safety, quality, environmental impact, and ethics procedures.
  • Apply appropriate physical principles and concepts in designing physical systems and physical components and analyze the signals and results from different physical systems by the effective use of physical principles.

Cognitive Skills

Students will develop the following cognitive skills:

  • Discussing advanced theories in modern physics.
  • Applying the concepts and physical laws in research purposes.
  • Choosing the optimal solutions to physical problems based on analytical thinking, taking into account safety, quality, environmental impact, and ethics procedures.

Interpersonal Skills and Responsibility

Students will develop the following interpersonal skills and responsibility:

  • Developing teamwork skills.
  • Accepting criticism and respecting the opinion of others.

Communication, Information Technology, and Numerical Skills

Students will develop the following communication, information technology, and numerical skills:

  • Searching in the internet and libraries for subjects related to various physics fields.
  • Applying mathematical and statistical methods and modern techniques in the interpretation and presentation of physical results.

Potential Jobs

Graduates of the program can pursue careers in:

  • The academic field and scientific research.
  • The field of teaching.
  • Environmental field and environmental conservation (specialists in environmental measurements to develop instruments and measuring devices capable of detecting pollutants).
  • Nuclear energy and nuclear reactors and their methods of operation.
  • The field of medical physics, operation, and maintenance of magnetic resonance devices, X-ray, CT scan, gamma rays.
  • Water purification and desalination stations.
