The College of Law and International Relations offers a course titled INR 423: European Foreign Policy and Security Issues. This course examines the issue of European foreign policy through the lens of EU integration.
Course Description
The course will explore the extent to which EU member states have constructed a coherent foreign and security policy. It will also discuss whether the European Union is becoming a credible security actor with the ability to defend its common borders and contribute to global security. Additionally, the course will look at how forward-looking European leaders sought to end the possibility of another war by pooling the production of key military resources.

Program Focus
The course focuses on the European Union's relationship with the rest of the world, particularly in light of recent developments such as the financial crisis, declining defense budgets, division over the Iraq war, and disagreement on the recognition of Kosovo. Despite these challenges, some scholars have labeled Europe a second superpower, highlighting the significance of the EU's security integration efforts.
