Program Overview
University Program Information
Biochemistry Program
The Biochemistry program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the molecular and cellular features that constitute and regulate the central pathways in metabolism. This course builds upon the knowledge acquired from the biochemistry course in the first year, expanding students' knowledge about proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids metabolism.
Course Description
The course will lay the foundation for subsequent courses in pharmacology and pathophysiology by providing an understanding of enzyme mechanisms, the therapeutic use of enzyme inhibitors, intermediary metabolism, and the effects of drugs on various metabolic pathways, signal transduction, and biotransformation processes.
Course Details
- Credits: 4
- The laboratory sessions will deal with the isolation, characterization, and quantitative determination of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
University Information
The Biochemistry program is offered by Alfaisal University, located in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
