Introduction to the Dentistry Program

The Dentistry Program is a branch of medicine that specializes in the study, diagnosis, and treatment of teeth and surrounding tissues, diseases of the mouth, face, jaws, and their prevention. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice dentistry with its curative and preventive aspects.

The mission of the program is to develop competent graduates who fulfill the national requirements for general dental practitioners by providing dental services, promoting oral health community programs, and supporting research.

Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Diagnostic Sciences

This department specializes in teaching and training students in courses based on various disciplines, including oral medicine, oral diagnosis, oral pathology, and radiological dental sciences.


Department of Prosthetic Dental Sciences

This department restores and treats oral functions through diagnosis and treatment plans, aiming to compensate for missing teeth and related tissues and maintain oral functions, comfort, appearance, and health of the patient.


Department of Restorative Dental Sciences

This department comprises three divisions: Operative Dentistry, Endodontic, and Dental Biomaterials. It provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in restorative dental procedures.


Department of Preventive Dental Sciences

This department focuses on oral and dental health, including community dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and orthodontics. It aims to raise awareness of healthy practices to maintain a healthy oral environment.


Graduate Fields of Work

The program aims to provide graduates with the knowledge necessary to meet the needs of the labor market from specialized national health cadres, enabling them to practice work in various dental jobs, including:


  • Hospitals (governmental and private)
  • Private dental clinics
  • Medical industries related to dentistry
  • Dental research and development
  • Supervisory positions in the Ministry of Health, hospitals, government clinics, and other health facilities
  • Faculty membership in colleges and universities

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:


  • Have a secondary school certificate (natural sciences) or its equivalent from inside or outside the kingdom
  • Have a weighted percentage of not less than 70%, distributed as follows: 30% for secondary school, 40% for the Scholastic Achievement Admission Test, and 30% for the General Aptitude Test
  • Not have been in possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent for a period of more than five years
  • Be of good character and conduct
  • Successfully pass the acceptance and personal interview test
  • Pass the manual skill test successfully
  • Be medically fit
  • Obtain approval from their reference to study if they work in any governmental or private authority
  • Meet any other conditions determined by the College Council and announced at the time of application
  • Not be expelled from another university for disciplinary or educational reasons

Study Plan of the Program

The study in the dental program extends over a period of six academic years, with 185 credit hours, followed by a compulsory rotatory internship. The course includes English language courses, college requirements in the humanities, basic and clinical science courses in human medical sciences, and basic and applied clinical dentistry sciences.


Internship Training

The internship training is a 12-month program devoted to student training, contributing to reducing student dependence on faculty members and facilitating the transfer of the student to an independent dentist. The program trains students to design and implement various treatment plans in the field of dentistry in the presence of specialized guidance.
